GLENVIEW, Ill. – Texas graduate Tommy Morrison fired a final-round 63 at The Glen Club on Sunday to shatter the Evans Scholars Invitational scoring record and claim his first professional victory at 29-under par.

Morrison finished three shots better than the previous tournament scoring record of 26-under par, set by current PGA TOUR player Johnny Keefer in 2025.

Entering the final round with a one-shot lead, Morrison quickly pulled away with birdies on each of his first five holes. He added another birdie at No. 11 before driving the par-4 15th and making eagle to complete a bogey-free round.

Morrison posted rounds of 65-63-64-63 for a 72-hole total of 255.

“If you're going to win out here, you can't really hold back,” said Morrison, who moved into position to secure his PGA TOUR card at the end of the season. “If I held back today, I would have gotten my butt kicked. It almost just keeps you in that mindset of ‘I've got to go and I can't step off the pedal here or else someone's going to pass me.’ That's where my mindset was all today and when I woke up this morning.”

In just four Korn Ferry Tour starts, Morrison has recorded a top-10 finish, a top-five, a runner-up and now a victory. He has also posted 15 consecutive rounds in the 60s in Korn Ferry Tour competition.

Morrison’s scoring record wasn’t the only history made Sunday at The Glen Club. Scott McGuinness, who was on Morrison’s bag this week, became the first caddie to win the Evans Scholars Invitational twice. McGuinness also caddied for Morrison’s fellow Texas Longhorn Scottie Scheffler when the current world No. 1 won the inaugural championship in 2019.

A member of the victorious 2025 U.S. Walker Cup Team, Morrison has also competed in several WGA championships, including a run to the Sweet 16 at the 2025 Western Amateur.

Morrison joins a list of past champions that includes Keefer, Thomas Rosenmueller (2024), Trace Crowe (2023), Harry Hall (2022), Cameron Young (2021), Curtis Thompson (2020) and Scheffler.
